Oklahoma Amazon Sales Tax
Oklahoma enforces marketplace facilitator law since November 2019. Amazon collects all Oklahoma sales tax.
Overview
Oklahoma's marketplace facilitator and economic nexus law took effect November 1, 2019. The state base sales tax rate is 4.5%, but Oklahoma allows substantial local add-ons — counties and cities can stack additional rates that push the combined total as high as about 11.5% in some jurisdictions, one of the wider local ranges in the country. Amazon collects and remits Oklahoma sales tax on every order shipped to an Oklahoma address.
Amazon had voluntarily begun collecting Oklahoma tax in mid-2018 under an earlier notice-or-collect election, but November 1, 2019 marks the binding marketplace facilitator collection requirement. Oklahoma hosts a modest Amazon fulfillment footprint, including facilities in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas.
For an Amazon-only (FBA) seller, Oklahoma sales tax is collected and remitted automatically by Amazon, with no separate registration needed for marketplace sales. Sellers with other channels or in-state nexus should consult a tax professional. This is educational information, not legal advice.
What FBA sellers still need to know
No registration for ongoing Amazon-only sales — Amazon collects and remits. Direct or non-Amazon sellers exceeding $100,000 in aggregate Oklahoma sales in the preceding 12-month period must register and remit; Oklahoma has no transaction-count threshold.
