Nevada Amazon Sales Tax
Nevada enforces marketplace facilitator law since October 2019. Amazon collects Nevada state and local sales tax on every order. Major Amazon FBA fulfillment-center state.
Overview
Nevada's marketplace facilitator law took effect October 1, 2019. The statewide minimum rate is 6.85%, and county add-ons bring the combined rate up to about 8.375% in Clark County (Las Vegas). Amazon collects and remits the correct combined rate automatically on orders shipped to Nevada addresses.
Nevada is a major Amazon fulfillment-center state, with facilities including the Reno (RNO4) center, the historically significant Fernley site (Amazon's original Nevada warehouse, opened 1999, later consolidated into Reno), and the North Las Vegas (LAS2) center. That in-state inventory presence historically gave Amazon physical nexus in Nevada even before the marketplace facilitator law — a relevant note for third-party sellers whose FBA stock may sit in these warehouses. The exact buyer rate still varies by delivery county on top of the 6.85% base.
For FBA sellers, Amazon handles Nevada sales tax collection and remittance on marketplace orders, so Amazon-only sellers have no separate registration obligation for those sales. Sellers with direct or other channels should track their own nexus — including any physical presence created by stored inventory — and consult a tax professional for edge cases.
What FBA sellers still need to know
No registration for ongoing Amazon-only sales. Direct/non-Amazon sellers exceeding $100,000 in retail sales or 200 or more separate transactions into Nevada must register and remit; storing inventory in a Nevada fulfillment center can also create physical nexus.
